My Napa was the same way, until the other day I needed a couple joints for the front of my 1/2T Ram. I went in to see the parts guy that I like to deal with the best, and he tried to sell me some of thier off the shelf Precision joints. I just said if it doesn't say "SPICER" on the caps, I'll wait until you get some in. And he says "we don't normally stock that brand, because people won't buy them. I said "oh really"
"everyone I know buys Spicer joints, and they don't buy from you because they have to wait. They would rather buy from the driveshaft shop since he keeps most of the Spicers in stock". He kinda acted disgruntled a little bit and says he'd ask the manager about getting them to stock the Spicer brand for us. My buddy (79' Ferd Bronco, 4BTA Cummins) buys one entire set of u-joints every year (38's, 1/2T running gear, lockers front and rear are kind of hard on stuff, read 760-xs) But if he buys the cheapos, Neapco, Precision, Brute, Sealed power, all it takes is about one good run and he'll grenade the axle joints then were out there hip deep in snow or mud pulling the knuckle off because the cheap joints spread the ears on the shaft far enough you can't pull them through the knuckle(not fun). I have little faith in the counter guy but I've had pretty good luck ordering well in advance, (from him) or going else where.
