Thanks for the info. I was pretty tired when I wrote the post. I didn't mean the "dash" just the gauges, at least the speedo. Meilen IS German for miles, so:
a. because it was set-up as a radio car maybe it did get sent to Europe, maybe during the occupation. I think a more likely explanation would be that someone replaced the gauge Stateside with a surplus speedo. I was just amazed to find a replacement speedo in German.

Like I said, this was a transition vehicle, the dash and gauges are the same or similiar to what went into the 3/4-ton series, but the chassis was still 1/2-ton. That makes it an interesting piece to say the least.
I don't have a door in my tailgate either, but I've got the dome light! I wonder if the compartment was a post-war modfication or unique to a radio-command car?
