Sorry for the off topic but is is Power Wagon related as I heat my shop with wood. Got a letter in the mail from the manufacture of my outdoor wood furnace(OWF) and Ohio EPA has a bill going before the state to ban all OWF's.

Step one is to ban all sales of new ones and any existing ones must meet several new rules.

Stack must be 5 ft higher than the peak of ANY roof peak with 150 ft of it.

Must be located farther than 200 ft from ANY property line.

No stove shall have VISIBLE EMISSIONS for more than 6 minutes at a time.

These rules are to keep your EXISTING stove and even if you fall into line you still have to have it removed or inoperable by 2015. Meaning NO furnaces will be legal after that.

I understand where some of this is coming from. People with small acreage putting them on property lines and smoking up there neighbors. I agree that should be addressed but not by banning them all! My nearest neighbor with prevailing winds is a 1/2 mile away. The only thing I don't fall in line with is the stack heighth. Within 150 feet???

If this passes I can see their next step is to ban ALL wood burning. I guess this is what the oil companys are talking about when they say using the profits they've made for product developement and reasearch. This is just a little too much big brother for me.

Anyone else besides California have this in place? Kevin
