I wonder if it was something relating to his lungs?
My step-dad did body work for years and years (pre-OASH, EPA, etc.) and his Doctor (back in the 80s) told him to get out of the business or die. From fumes and dust and everything associated with that business... (He left the business and turned 71 the other day!!)
I too will miss Boyd's work!
