I would try to get a complete harnes for that truck.If that was not available, i would make a complete harnes from scratch and go bumper to bumper.It would save you lots of grief down the road.Its not hard to do at all and i seen a good diagram on here to follow.Yes its time consuming but it is well worth it. At the same time i would change out the resistor ,starter solenoid and the voltage regulator.Also replce all the battery cables a fresh start no pun intended.Also i would rebuild the starter and generator.i would put a limit of well under a thousand bucks for all your materials and parts .A lot less than your deductable if you burn it up with that mess you have now. never use those crush connectors theres no place in the automotive field for those . Get to a auto electrical shop they have the proper connecters you solder and shrink tube to coat the ends of the connectors for insulation,any auto store will carry loom and clips to make the job neat .Personaly i would opt for circuit breakers over fuses
