You got'er Vaughn! That's called stress relieving. The welder/fitters in the refinery where I work got a stress relieving crew following them while they're welding up new pipe. They have circular kilns that heat the joint up to 'relax' the stess on the welds which occur as the material cools initially. I was told that the temp was in the 700's though...
