Very simple. Vote for those who support your views. I would not worry about fitting in or retaining friends who are so closed minded that they will not tolerate someone who does not believe or vote exactly as they do. This is the major problem in Washington DC, people of different parties or beliefs are not willing to talk or work together for the greater good.

Also why label yourself? Do you really need a label to define yourself. People often use labels to segregate themselves and other into to groups of acceptable and unacceptable people.

I was really ticked at both political parties a few years ago. Prior to that time, Washington state was open in terms of votes. In the primaries and general election you could vote for who ever you chose regardless of party. Well the parties decided that they did not like that. Now you have to declare a party in the primaries and can vote for only that party's candidates. If you do not declare then no vote. The pisser is that it becomes public information who you declared as a party affiliation. That is my business only not everyone else's.

We just had our primary for the election, the Democrats elect all of their delegates in cacuses that occurred about a week prior to the primary and the primary means nothing to them. The Republican's elect 1/2 of their delegates in the primary and 1/2 in the primary. So during this last primary a democrat was on the radio and stated that they should declare to be Republican for the primary and vote for Huckabee. That is exactly the reason why they changed the primary process here. They wanted to stop cross votes and the Democrats were screaming the loudest a couple of years ago.

In the many years I have voted, I have always picked the candidate that matches my views regardless of party. I will vote against a scumbag that is in office if they are unprofessional and a embarrassment to their office or the people of the state. I have never given any money to a PAC as I feel that is giving up my right to choose and support candidates of my choice.

I believe that neither of the current political parties have a corner on being right. Both lack the foresight to do what is right for our country and put their party behind that. When congress votes straight along party lines it really ticks me. They have check out their brains and are following their party line rather than using their brain or coming to an agreement that the majority can agree to that is right for our country.

Now that I have made my political statements I am sure that I will be labeled and thrown out with the trash by many people.
