Aaroneus...they say the Getrag will live longer if you screw in a street elbow. This effectively raises the level of the fluid in the gearbox by about an inch or so.
I don't personally believe it makes much difference. These gearboxes live just fine if you go easy on them. If you tow big trailers or turn the power on your Cummins up...Bang!
Not even the extra gear lube will help you.
Front springs...they always look like that in the First Gen's. Usually there's only about an inch of daylight between the spring & the spring bumper. The Cummins is too heavy for those springs in my opinion.
Skyjacker makes a good spring that rides way better & levels the ride in these rigs. I think it's a 2" lift spring that guys are using up front & that will make the front level with the rear. Pretty sure Skyjacker sells a kit with 2" lift front & level rear.
Never ridden in a truck with them but I hear it's way, way better.
