I was thinking of putting the idiot light in the throttle cable bracket since I haven't hooked up the cable yet.

But then I saw that some heaters had a small under dash 'heater control panel', with places for the switch and a cable for the defrost. Plus a couple extra spaces. The light could go in there, and look O.E. I haven't restored the heater yet, and don't have a control panel anyhow. But I guess I could hammer one out when I get around to doing the heater...

25 years ago I did a 12v conversion on my 1/2t command car. I used a fifty cent diode from Radio Shack, at the foot pedal 'starter switch', right on the starter. Most have a small screw on the side for the ballast by-pass. No, wait... that was needed so the ballast didn't short via the starter. That truck had a Mopar alternator, didn't need a diode in the alt circuit. Anyhow, anydam diode will work, try one. They only need to work with enough juice to light the darn idjiot bulb anyhow. All you have to lose is the fifty cents, and having to disconnect a wire to shut it off if it don't work.
