My knowledge of early Chrysler engines is pretty thin but I have some parts books for 251 and straight 8`s industrial engines that I have looked at over the years. The only real differences I can find is that some of the bolt on accessories like flywheels, bellhousings, dizzy`s etc are different. The same basic engine fits all applications.

That being said, move onto the more modern day stuff whether its Cummins,Cat, or jap engines like Isuzu or Mitsubishi and its a whole new ball game.
These days engines are getting very specific in there applications, use the wrong parts (specially auto parts into industrial engines) and you can end up with a big repair bill.
