The low deck "B" block will have a pad underneath the distributor in front of the passenger side head with the engine information on it. The raised block "RB" will have a similar pad on top of the engine forward of the intake manifold and to the right of the distributor facing the front of the engine. It will say on the pad what engine it is. Many of the early blocks only have the last two # of displacement on the pad. 38=383, 41=413. It will also be cast into the side of the block.
