filling transfer cases, etc... with gear oil

Guys (and Gals),

When I was still on the farm, we used buckets of 5 gallons of gear oil, and had hand pumps in them (like in the photo). With the PW and M I had been using small quart bottles and a funnel with a hose. Well it was slow and painful, and I'm now considering buying a hand pump like I've used before. Is that what you are using, or is their a better solution?
