Howard,
Be sure to check the gear backlash.
You adjust by adding or subtracting gaskets.
The gaskets are 0.005 inch thick if they are correct. Your looking for 0.004-0.008inch backlash between the gears with the PTO mounted tight.
Your supposed to remove the other pto cover and put a dial indicator there to check.
I useually just do it by feel. I engage the pto(engine "NOT" Ruuning)and rock the output shaft by hand. If you can find a manual,it would guide you through the proper adjustment.
(Military manual) Main thing is you don't want the gears to tight as it will destroy the bearings.
