I had customers do that routinely before bringing cars in for oil changes. They supposed it was a high detergent thing to do, but we figured it was just lots thinner. 10 wt maybe?

The seal-care additives of the ATF may even be beneficial.

But YMMV... maybe improve due to lower friction of the lighter weight?
