fuel sender - guage question

I have checked the archives and can't get a clear indication of the magnitude of my problem. I am wiring up my 46 wdx, 6 volt, so I have the fuel guage with the 3 pins on the back. I have installed a fuel tank with sender that is only a 1 wire sender (12v). Can I, using the setup above wire the 12v sender to be used on my 6v system and guage or do I need to find a wdx tank and sender assembly? Please assist if possible. Thanks.
