I noticed in the video where it's going down hill, it always keeps two legs on the ground on each side, but when it's going on the flats it lifts the two end legs on one side and the middle leg on the other at the same time. Must be a hydraulic guy's dream (or nightmare) to design something like that.

If the purpose of it is low-impact logging, it occurs to me that nature has already provided us with a non-wheeled log-moving machine that is much quieter and doesn't require any petroleum products. It seems like this machine is sort of a complicated expensive horse. There are people around here who do contract logging with one or two horse power, and for selective logging where you don't want to tear things up, they can't be beat. Plus, horses can work when the ground's frozen and there's a foot or so of snow, and that not only makes it easier to skid the logs but it protects the ground even more. Most of the hillsides around here are too steep for any kind of vehicle -- cat, rubber-tired skidder, or probably this walking machine. In the old days they logged down hill in the winter and sent the logs screaming down icy chutes. Now they log uphill with jammers.
