I agree. I had a 318 years ago with 90000 miles and it spun a bearing going down the road one afternoon. It had not been well taken care of. I currently have a 318 engine that just turned 230000 miles and still going. It is showing its age but I wouldnt hesitate to take off and drive it anywhere.

As for the 97 318 if its been taken care of it should be good for some more miles. The plenum gasket is famous for causing problems in the newer style magnum engines. They can cause a perfectly good engine to use oil.
