...to know that hooking on the return spring draws the shoes back until they hit something. On most vehicles it's the stop pin above the wheel cylinder, but on our FFPWs it's the snail cam behind the shoe that stops them. If the springs didn't overcome the residual pressure, we wouldn't need cam adjusters- drum brakes would work like the calipers on disc systems.

Tim putting check valves in fixed Tim's problem of air coming back in past the cups. We all know how air makes pedals soft.
