I believe you are correct about the volume issue.
I am running a crossover system using a saginaw box that was originally used on a internatiomal . The reason I was considering using a ram was because of the number of cracked frames I have seen that occure when you run bigger tires on a truck and the frame does flex when the tires are being turned and the vehicle is not moving .
Add to that I am using a dropped steering link that I do not want to overload. A ram assist seems to be a viable addition.
The down side is the additional componets that can fail and the parts I need to fab to get the thing to work.
