I'm happy to report that since then the Army has discovered rip-stop and Gore-Tex, but it took them 40 years...
On my M113, I had $4,000 military tractor lights that penetrated maybe 40 feet. It would have been nice to have a pair of $200 KC Daylighters instead....= )
The US military is full of awesome, brave Americans, but the system that operates it is still a bureaucratic government system, the same system that brings you, your local department of motor vehicles, the social security office, your soon to be "free" health care and the ever efficient highway department...all operated by a congress that can't stay within it's meager 5 trillion dollar budget...
A free market and a shrinking government is what we need. Bigger is not always better...
