I've received e-mails from 5 individuals about diesel conversions for Landcruisers and M37s and Power Wagons in the last 10 days. That's more than in the last few months. Average is about 1 a month.
Is it the gas prices? If so, think about this: crude isn't being formed very fast, and it's being used up at a good clip. When 1.2 billion Chinese start driving....even if they are 3 cyl 1.2L diesels. Plan ahead. You all want to keep these trucks a long time, right? Die with the keys in your fingers or be buried in them...Those of you that actually drive them and aren't afraid of modifications should keep an eye out for a motor and appropriate drivetrain. Cummins 4BT being the most accessible at the moment. When the V6 4.0-4.5L diesels come out for the SUVs in 2001-2002, they'll be good ones for swaps also. And they will be easier to gear, they will be 3500-4000 rpm motors.
