They had a pyrimid pattern with a 2" or so wide smoother border on the 3 sides away from the trans cover and were backed by around 1/4" jute glued on. NOS mats are nonexistant. The rollstock material is close but pattern is smaller and of course no border.
I have recently found the most perfect nos set of mats in a truck a friend has obtained. I think it would be an easy reproduction item (has part #'s, DPCD logo, & all the edge detail)if enough could be ordered to keep cost down.
Most trans covers had black rubberish somewhat fiberous material, most likely containing asbestos, also some appear to be leather. VPW sells leather replacements. Rubber supply houses can provide a suitable rubber product.
