It can be done (it's only steel)but width is
problematic and the weight is of @ 800 lbs is a factor
especially with already heavy steering. Adapters
are avaialabe to bolt one to a troquefilte or you can find
one of the early iron case torqueflites from the
215, 325, 326, 354 polys or any of the post-mid
'56 hemi's. The "A"/LA engines use a similar but not quite the same
botpattern. I believe 5 of the bolts match up but the reest don't
and the starter location may be a problem. Scattershields are available for stickshift applications. the engines were
all internally balanced as I recall so flywheels
should interchange across the board, but you
would want to confirm on that.
