Old trucks are almost alive, in that they convey a message to their owners and others. They remind one of a slower, simpler time. Of good days and friends long gone. They remind us of our experiences. An old truck seems to say "Thanks for believing in me - let me help you with work". You can enjoy working on an older truck. You get back more than you put into it. It's like an old friend.

Today's trucks are sterilized hunks of thin tinny metal with wall to wall carpeting and other decadent furnishings that seem more suitable for going to the opera than to the gravel pit, with miles of unfathomable wiring and delicate electronics, along with a monsterous price tag. There is little appeal to them, and for the most part their owners treat them as disposable. They'll just get another when the lease is up.

Give me an old truck any day of the week.
