Are in the 3-4' footing frostline area of the country???
Is it worth digging and having most of your shop in ground, like an old style barn???
Use the ground as for thermal control. I used to work out of a 2200 sqft basement, 10' cielings, 3/4 underground.
There was NO a/c or heating device in this shop. Here are my yearly temps in northern NJ.
Summer time high---70
Winter time low----60
Very comfortable and not humid or dry.
