I agree that our trucks are better than our cars. My wife switched to a extended cab pickup because of our experience with cars. We became a two truck family. This can be a pain when you have visitors (not enough room to comfortably go anytwhere). Her '95 truck was much better than my '88. But the automatic transmission went out right on schedule at 75k miles. No other major problems that I recall with the '95.

I truly loved my '88 truck. Never had a scratch on it. Repainted it once to make it pretty again. But in retrospect I replaced just about everything on it at least once. I do my own work with exception of automatic transmissions. The 350 engine was very good. It developed an internal prestone leak at 250K miles. Replaced it with a rebuilt engine, but I probably could have gotten by with replacing head gaskets. Had prestone in the oil after a long trip and my concern was that there was other internal damage. Rebuilt the transmission once, and got caught away from home when it failed the second time. That was an expensive ordeal. The brakes were the worst feature of the truck. I don't think that I ever got more than 25-30K on them before they acted up again. But I always kept it in good shape where it could go "flat out". Anytime.

I sold it to a Mexican-American who promptly got it involved in a burgulary and a police chase. He hit a car along the way (which I recieved many calls about). Like I stated above, that truck was always ready to go flat out, but of course it couldn't out run the police! They ran the truck into a ditch and ran/escaped from the police. The truck was impounded, but the mexican recovered it claiming it was stolen!
