The most important thing is to NOT start tearing everything apart, looking for something that isn't there.
Stop messing with wires and moving things around that are not related to your problem and you'll have less "repairs" to fix later.
First get warm and comfortable, drink something hot and think about it...
What have you moved or changed?
Rotate the motor to top dead center on the FIRING stroke. As suggested below, trace the number one cylinder wire up to the cap, make sure that the rotor is pointing at that wire.
A simple old school motor like yours only needs three things, Fuel/Air/Ignition, and in the proper firing order. Make sure the firing order is correct, make sure the points are adjusted properly, make sure you have spark, make sure you have air, make sure you have fuel. Throw that timing light away until you get the basics figured out, it will run without the timing being perfect and you can fine tune it later.
And stay away from that fan blade while your are playing in there...
