Somebody told me that if you shot a bear...he can still catch up to you before he will drop. Something to do with their heart beating slower or something?
Glad I don't need to worry about such things!
I see black bears often when I go hiking on Grouse Mountain. They come within 20 feet of you but they seem to be climatized to people being around. I've never heard of one attacking in this area...thousands of hikers every day & very common to see them...even with cubs.
