Easy to lug around in a pack, and you can even get a scabbard to put it on your hip. I actually have a shoulder holster rig where I can carry two hatchets under each arm, and a full size axe in a scabbard on the hip. Machettes are cool too, remember "Romancing the stone" with mike douglass? JUST KIDDING !!! LOL !!!!
Maby a little snubnose .38 wheel gun would suit her needs.
I'm assuming she's worried about cats while treking?
