It's good that you found it before removing the pan. I remember one sunny Saturday afternoon about 30 years ago I decided to change the oil in my Chevy 283 powered Land Cruiser. After draining the oil, I removed and replaced the filter. Then I started pouring oil into the opening in the valve cover. As I watched the last quart of oil drain into the engine, I happened to glance at the ground between by feet and noticed a little black stream of oil. I had forgot to put the drain plug back into the pan! We lived about 15 miles from town and the Land Cruiser was my only ride. Talk about feeling stupid. JH
