Well, I looked through every W500 spec sheet I have, they only show one axle for that truck, the Rockwell, all with 6 lugs from 1961 to at least 1967.
Standard Cab rated at 20,000 GVW (almost as much as my Chassis/Cab).
And for crew cabs, wheelbases of, 157", 175" and 221" crew cabs had ratings of 25,000 lbs.
Purely speculation, but maybe someone swapped the stock Rockwell axles for some GM 14 bolt axles for easier parts availability???
