I'm not sure if they were original, but my '57 had teardrop/cone shaped lenses in the original tail light brackets.
I looked at Advanced Auto Parts for the lenses and found the entire bracket, lense, socket set that looks original for about $3. I bought two of them and used the lenses in my original brackets.
Again, I don't know if they are correct but they look identical to the ones that were on my '57 when I bought it.
