Chris, I built a fancy 383 that I'm going to install in one of my W300's. The stock clutch on the 71 would never be strong enough to hang on to this mill. I don't want to pull the engine on that truck only to find out I bought the wrong clutch...know what I mean?
A diaphragm clutch is way smoother & easier to operate than a lever clutch. If it's as simple as a different pressure plate & throw out bearing....I'd rather have the diaphragm clutch. If there's any difference or the bellhousing/clutch arm etc need to be swapped...forget it.
I'm getting conflicting info.
Manuals are telling me that it's got an 11" clutch but clutch catalogs are listing a 12 " disc.
Just thought maybe someone has one out or has done a few.
If you hear anything conclusive, please let me know.
