Braze it

I would braze it. It sounds like it's in a place where heat stress won't cause a crack to grow. Clean it well, put borax flux on it, heat it slow and even with a torch with a big tip held a ways away, until it's orange. Use flux-coated brazing rod. It should melt and flow as soon as you touch the rod to it. If the zinc burns off with blue flame and smoke, it's too hot. Let it cool slowly, preferably buried in dry sand or vermiculite, but being as how it's not in a high-stress spot, cooling in still air will probably be safe. Once it's cool, mill or grind it down flat. I've done similar things and just used a big belt sander to get the surface flat.

Another option, admittedly more of a field expedient than a real good fix, is to put black asbestos furnace cement on the pitted part, bolt it up tight and let it dry completely before firing up the engine. I did that on a badly pitted intake/exhaust manifold assembly where they bolt together and so far it's holding. High temperature silicone isn't strong enough for that application, but furnace cement seems to be.
