In many, many places that is illegal!
Silica and most media is considered toxic waste. Allowing it to get into the water table or a stream or the ocean, is irresponsible!
That is why it is best to take it to a shop that will do it correctly and reclaim the media.
Like Marty, I also have the equipment, but at under $400 to blast a cab it's not worth the time, aggravation and the PROPER clean-up, to do it myself.
For someone on a budget, (proper breathing gear costs more than $400) living in the Mojave, it might make sense to do it yourself, but you have to be responsible with your waste.
