I picked up this axle assembly searching for parts for my '47 WDX restoration. I hope to use this axle with Ray's disc brake conversion and Shockley's arb locker.

From my research so far I believe it is from a WC series truck. Here are my questions:

(1) How do I tell if it is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton axle? I understand that both were centered and used for the WC.

(2) What are the differences between a 1/2 ton & 3/4 axle? (different bearings, hubs, axles, diffs, etc?)

(3) I believe that this axle needs to be a 3/4 ton version in order to use my helitool disc brake kit. True? Assuming it is a 3/4 ton axle I understand that i'll need to replace the diff mounting bolts & use 3 gaskets to fit the larger PW 9 5/8" ring gear (instructions on uglytrucking.com).

(4) Anybody put one of Shockley's ARB locker's in a 3/4 ton rear successfully? Seems like it should fit . . . What if it is a 1/2 ton axle?

Thank you very much for any insight, answers, and information.

Jeff
