As technology moves forward, more and more people have high speed internet. Actually its almost accepted that 'everyone' has high speed. This is simply not the case ! Many people in the US are challenged with very low speed dial up connections. I have shared this with you before. My connection speed is 24.4K on a 'good' day. Along with the 24.4K connect speed, I am faced with disconnects.

My friends want to send me pictures of their project, pictures of a problem, pictures for Friends Dodges, pictures for Restoration Alley. This is wonderful, and I want the pictures, but 99% of the pictures sent are Mega Byte Pictures. Now this means nothing to those on high speed, its business as usual. Let me explain what it means to me. I have received 5mb files that take almost a hour to down load......if I dont get a disconnect. If I do get a disconnect, I have to start all over with the download.

I cant ignore the huge file, because I can not down load any other email until I down load the huge file. So I am forced to do my own disconnect and then wait 15 to 20 minutes until ATT resets the mail disconnect so I can directly go to my ATT Web Mail and get my email and PURGE the huge file. I can no longer accept large files.

Effective immediately, I am purging huge files, with no notification to the sender that it was purged. If I dont, I am going to loose the Christmas Spirit LOL !

A few months ago, Joe Cimoch posted a picture re-sizer program that he uses, is free and easy to use. I will accept pictures up to 100K in size. I would appreciate if they were no larger than 50K. In reality, most of the pictures I upload to Image Event are re-sized by myself to 30-40K and they look fine. I dont use the software Joe posted, hopefully Joe will repost the link to get that software so you can use it. Otherwise, send your me pictures on a CD.

Guys, I have no choice, I am loosing the joy with this slow internet. The good side, I am on a Town Board Committee working to get high speed internet to the more remote roads in our town. But if it does happen, it will not be soon. When/If, it does happen, I will post I have high speed and then you can 'send anything'.

Please understand my position and dont be upset with my action, I have no choice.

Paul
