Yes, I believe that a non-profit can sell off surplus items, but the money has to stay in the organization. That is why you have to be careful in donating an artifact to a 501c3, as you are turning ownership over to them, and if they deem the item surplus it can be sold off without your knowledge. That is why paperwork is critical as to if an item is on loan or donated. Tom
