My feeling is...Who cares?
You'd have to be an idiot to pay $900 for either reproduction or NOS so he will not likely be smart enough to ever find out!
Sounds to me like the reproductions are every bit as good as an NOS original so really...all we have here is a guy paying almost twice as much as retail for something. Quit common on Ebay really.
The seller does appears to be a liar. This is nothing new on Ebay either.
Ebay is the best thing to ever happen to the car/truck hobby....people that don't agree with that statement are foolish.
Ebay has made publications like Hemmings about as old fashioned as a record player.
That said...it's still "Buyer Beware"
There's more crooks out there than ever & you need to know how to identify them.
If a seller won't respond to your questions & won't send his home telephone number....don't bid. It's just that simple.
This still won't eliminate crooks...there's several other steps.
Most importantly for me as a buyer-Pay with Paypal. If you don't receive your item within 45 days or the item has been described fraudulently...Paypal investigates the situation & refunds you your payment.
Twice this has happened to me...twice Paypal refunded my money.
Anyone that doesn't use Ebay from time to time...they remind me of the crowd that won't use an ATM & still go to a bank teller! :)
