I have a Graphics shop in Burlington, Vt that does my work. They take a picture I supply on a CD and print it on a special 3M paper. The a clear film that is UV protected goes over the top. When I get it, the picture is all cut and filmed on crack and peel stock with alignment guides for application. Life time guarantee. Usually $50 bucks which I think is really cheap considering the work involved. The picture above is my Carryall on my 03 Ram. The Bumblebee is on the right rear.
So what you are considering is easily done.
