I have an BMW 97 328 with 180,000 miles. There have been some minor annoyances with the car, had to replace a radiator at 90,000 miles and a coil went bad about 3 months ago. In the last couple of weeks the a/c compressor bit the dirt.
But at 180,000 miles it is only down a half quart at 5,000 miles and on a trip to Florida last month I averaged 31 miles to the gallon and that was not dipping below 70 miles and hour the entire 500 miles to Orlando.
I don't take it to the dealer and even the local independent shop is too pricey for me.
My wife is needleing me about getting a new car. I asked her what is wrong with the BMW, it runs fine and it's been paid off for several years. She replied "I'm just tired of it". Yeah right, that car's going to be with me at least another 10 years if I have my way. Becoming increasingly deaf has it's advantages.
