..and wires that are touching, or just "close", can "carbon arc" to each other, actually burn microscopic holes in the insulation and start following the carbon trace to another ground source.
I had a vehicle that would run fine and then stall dead in damp weather, in the dark you could see the miniature lightning show, under the hood....the spark was going everywhere, except to the plug.
