Casting patterns

I got a chance to look around in the back of what used to be the Coeur d'Alene Hardware Co. foundry. The owner's cleaning out to make room for stuff he actually sells. The foundry's been defunct for years, but there are huge piles of old wooden casting patterns in there and in another building nearby. I'm not mentioning it here for any particular reason, except that it sure would be nice if somebody had saved the tooling for some of our old iron from 50 years ago so it would be easy to make reproductions today. Most of CdA Hardware's products were mining equipment, so unless you need to cast the frame of an old-style ore car or a bull wheel for tramway, I doubt these patterns would do anybody any good. Still, I'd hate to see them burned since they represent so much craftsmanship and art back when they were made.
