That's a 1955 R180. It was originally 2wd, but I got a Timken (NAPCO) front axle and transfer case (out of a 2.5 ton GMC that I wrecked out) and installed it last week. Believe it or not, the front axle was a direct swap. The centering pins on the springs line up perfectly with the pin holes in the spring pads on the Timken axle. The gears in the front axle a 6.16:1 the rear axle is a Eaton two speed unit with a 6.17:1 high range. The engine is a Black Diamond 308ci inline 6. The transmission is a Warner 5 speed with short overdrive 5th. Wheels (fronts) are from a GMC M135 (6 lug) so they have a SRW offset and that helps move the tires out away from the frame. The tires shown on the front are 11.00-20's Those are what I will stick with. The 12.00-20 Michelins's just get too big for the small fenders and a 6cyl engine. I got a power assist steering unit off a '68 D700 that I'm going to figure out a way to install. The wheelbase is 133" My plan is to install a 8.5 foot IHC stepside bed off a mid '60's truck, and a St. Paul dump hoist. There will be single rear wheels in the back to fit the stepside fenders. I have 16" of space between the bed and the cab to fill up, and I'll probably mount a stand up, PTO to chain drive Garwood 20K lb winch. that's been sitting out in the field.
If you think that's cool, wait till you see my 1/2 ton open cab WC with a Chrysler 324ci straight 8 under the hood!
