In the book "Flyboys" it mentions when Paul met Mitsuo Fuchida, the Japanese pilot that lead the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mitsuo told Paul that he "did the right thing". Mitsuo said the Japanese state of mind is that they would have fought to the last man, woman and child, there would have been millions more killed if we (US) would have invaded Japan (the next step if the bombing didn't go as planned). So it went as planned - it ended the war.

I always wondered if that meeting possibly helped Tibbets come to grips with what he had to do...
