A few years back, i had a race-spec 727 tranny shipped up from Georgia (to Toronto, Ontario, Canada), the tranny weighed atleast 140lbs; and was sent in a huge wooden crate (with a cardboard box outside). It was only 107$usd to ship up.. I'm sure prices now will have changed, but its might still be resonable.
It took like 3 weeks to get here (1 week to hit the border, then 2 weeks to clear customs), but it arrived without a scratch.
