I work as a volunteer SAR dude up in B.C. I can totally relate . In theory we are supposed to work a max of 12 hours on and then take a break of 8 hours before going out again.
The problem is shutting down when I know I will be going out again in a few hours . Very often I spend some time here on the threads before reading and going to bed.
My daughters run around and repack my gear and wash my clothes while I get to put my act together . More often than not they remember gear that I have forgotten .
It can be tough but I like doing the job. I hope everythging stays together on your end.
