Don't ya jest LOVE our wonderful politicians? In the Chicago Metro area, the speed's always stayed at 55 since the drop from 70. Then, Hizhonor made a deal with the state for some funding to where the staties no patrol our breezeways instead of the Chicaga coppers.
Boy, did they get the raw end of the deal. HA! A trooper'd pull over one guy for speeding, and 30 more'd wizz past. So then they started what they called "Wolf Packs". They'd set up a radar unit & clock people & radio ahead to the 20 or so troopers waiting for the kill.
They soon discovered that wasn't enough either, & several of the troopers got hit (either their squads or them). Also, it was always announced on the news where they'd be working. A good friend had to transfer out cause he couldn't take it anymore.
At a stop his squad was rear ended, putting him in a body cast for 6 months. The DAY he went back to work, it happened again (not as bad though). He was on duty not even 5 minutes when that happened.
