Bill Young, an old time race engine mechanic, told me that using forged pistons will extend engine life considerably. The forged pistons don't get the ring grooves pounded out by the rings nearly as fast, so the engine goes a lot longer before needing a re-bore and new rings. Bill was the machinist at the Salt Flats Garage and really knew his stuff.
