There's another possible solution that involves minimal fabricating and just a little alteration. Ferd trucks from the same era apparently had their bottom channels manufactured by the same the supplier. I saw one in a vendors booth that would have been perfect with slight change in length and the tips added to attach the metal rim. I still don't know exactly which year and model Ferd.
